In 2004, after 2 decades of owning and successfully running multiple restaurants throughout Colorado, John Montoya, Jr. saw the need for a truly unique event venue in North Denver. He found the perfect location tucked away in the charming little community of Brighton, CO; an old movie theatre.
John envisioned a taste of Tuscany in Brighton by remodeling this little theater into something really special. A place with the sweeping old world charm, high ceilings, warm colors and dramatic balconies that would evoke the grace and style of a vintage Italian villa but with all the modern amenities.
As a chef, he knew what the kitchen needed to allow him to prepare world class food for large celebrations up to 300 guests.
So he created The Bella Sera.
Just a few months after Bella Sera opened in 2004 he was joined by Elisabeth to run the event venue, while John ran the large family restaurant in Westminster, CO. Elisabeth began her career in Los Angeles in the fashion and design industry, creating and designing for a myriad of different businesses. When joining John to develop the vision for The Bella Sera, she knew how to create extraordinary decor and wow factors that couples and guests would love. Together, they believe that the milestone memories that are made and lives that are touched by what they do within the four walls of their building, is far more important than just the look of the venue or the event itself. Elisabeth’s flair for style, high standards and immense attention to detail is what has set the standard of excellence at The Bella Sera. John and Elisabeth went on to marry in 2007. They believe it is a miracle from God that they met, and they love hearing the stories of their clients and finding out how they can best serve them.
Making a deep connection with their clients is of the utmost importance to them. John has touched several clients so deeply that they asked him to actually marry them at The Bella Sera. His nickname by his children is “The Rev” after marrying three couples so far. Elisabeth, John and their five amazing children love spending time together, and family time is always a priority for them. Supporting Foster Children and those grieving the loss of a loved one through The Richard Lambert Foundation, are both very special organizations they support.
