Great Gatsby Themed Wedding Anniversary

Every now and then we get the opportunity to work with amazing couples who have enjoyed lasting love for 25 years or more, and who want to celebrate their journey with their family, children and closest friends. We were honored to share in the 25th wedding anniversary celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Barnes last month at The Bella Sera. They are one of the funniest couples I have ever worked with, and they have an incredible family and group of friends. It was a true celebration of love, family, overcoming life’s challenges, joy, fun and spending time with great friends.

Great Gatsby Theme – It’s not often that I’m given complete freedom to design and decorate whatever comes to mind, but this was a rare treat of which I took advantage. They were happy with whatever I wanted to design and create. Oh darn! Their Great Gatsby and Roaring 20’s theme was carried throughout the entire evening beginning with their decor, guest attire, champagne toast with confetti poppers, as well as their chocolate fountain display and custom monogram. Gorgeous centerpieces were designed with lace, antique brooches, feathers and lots of pearls.

This theme not only lends itself to gorgeous decor, but also creates a very fun atmosphere with a unique flair that allows guests to quickly loosen up and escape for a night. There’s something about getting dressed up in the flapper girl style dress and putting on a feather headband that can transform a girl. The guys loved it too.

Flappers, as they were called in the 20’s, had a very distinctive dress sense and attitude – it was like nothing else around in the 1920s. These girls were most commonly known for their dancing, drinking, wearing a lot of makeup, smoking, and a love of films. Almost all flappers had bobbed hair.

We saw a few guests wearing dropped waistline dresses with plunging backs, that were sleeveless, and either beaded or sequined. There were a few women with long tight-fitting shoulder-length gloves, which was fun. Several women wore peekaboo hats or feathered headbands to the celebration or lace and long strands of pearls. It was really colorful and fun.

These are the types of celebrations we enjoy so very much, and we wish them all the best for the next 25 years to come.
